Over a dozen research papers specific to the topic of EFT for cravings have been published in the decade 2012 - 2022. You can download a pdf here containing citations and abstracts for each paper.
Of these papers, the most interesting must be from 2019, "An initial investigation of neural changes in overweight adults with food cravings after emotional freedom techniques" by Stapleton et al, as it was the first EFT study to use concrete fMRI imaging measurements and present these visually as evidence (see the images shown here from that paper).
Cravings aren’t just willpower battles; they are wired into the brain. This research using fMRI brain scans has shown graphically that EFT reduces neural activity linked to cravings. In other words, tapping literally helps quiet down the “must have it now” response in your brain. This means change isn’t just imagined — it’s visible in brain activity.
You can see examples of brain images that clearly show the difference before and after an EFT intervention to the right of this text on a laptop, or by scrolling down if you are reading this on a phone. These results are consistent with the earlier Harvard acupuncture research, also using fMRI, that showed that acupoint stimulation has the capacity to produce “extensive deactivation of the limbic-paralimbic-neocortical system”. Stapleton et al, who documented these neural changes that occurred after a 4-week online programme using EFT for food cravings concluded, "The findings indicated EFT may decrease limbic region brain activity and reduce food related symptoms in overweight/obese individuals. This study also illuminates the neurological mechanisms at work behind the many successful outcome studies of EFT for weight loss.”

i love the food craving course
This course is divided into several chapters that logically follow one another. This makes it easy to follow. The videos show not only the tap process, but also a lot of background information. Which gave me a lot of insight as to why I sometimes crave sweetness. Jacqui also speaks clearly and calmly making it easy to follow even for people whose native language is not English. (like me). I tried this out with chocolate nuts. After following the videos step by step and tapping along.... I could just leave the last chocolate nuts. I no longer had a craving for them. This is how I get choice in what to eat. And at the same time, I also gained insight as to why I was doing this. And I can be much more gentle with myself. Grateful for this course.
